Assurance readiness: your sustainability report ready before the review starts

Assurance readiness means preparing a sustainability report, and the data, controls and documentation behind it, so that an independent assurance provider can review it. CSRD reports require limited assurance; outside that scope, lenders, investors and corporate clients increasingly want figures that can be verified.

In hotels the weak points are predictable: estimated meter readings, unsourced supplier data, unexplained differences between properties, undocumented responsibilities. HOLITRA finds and closes them before the review, as part of ESG, Reporting & Assurance and the Reporting pillar of the HOLITRA Hospitality Sustainability System. HOLITRA prepares; it does not provide assurance or issue assurance statements, so the assurance stays independent.

FAQs

Assurance Readiness for Sustainability Reports

Preparing a sustainability report, and the data, evidence, controls and documentation behind it, so that an independent assurance provider can review it. It covers the evidence trail for every figure, data quality, documented methods and clear responsibilities.

No. HOLITRA prepares reporting, data and evidence for review. Assurance is provided by an independent assurance provider, such as an audit firm, which issues the assurance statement. Keeping preparation and assurance separate keeps the assurance independent.

A review in which the assurance provider performs fewer procedures than in a full audit and concludes whether anything has come to its attention suggesting the information is materially misstated. It is the level required for sustainability reports under the CSRD.

Ideally before the reporting year closes, so data and evidence are collected the right way from the start. For a first assured report, allow several months before the assurance provider begins.

Yes, if lenders, investors or corporate clients want verified figures, or if your hotel sits inside a group that reports under the CSRD: its data can then be part of what the group’s assurance provider samples.

The source of each figure, how it was calculated, who checked it, and how the reported topics were selected. Without that trail, findings and delays are likely.
